This has already been mentioned on a different part of the site.

    Link

If you apply for it before the 08th Sep it won't cost anything and lasts for 2 years. You dont have to use it but you will have it for free :) if you do decide to go to the US in the next 2 years.

I had six months left on my previous one and applied for a new one yesterday. It was approved within seconds

What happends when you're approved? I can't see why I would need to go to the US in the next 2 years but sure its free, I'll do it later on :)

Bumping this, seeing as it ends tomorrow.
Tried to do it myself, but the website is undergoing maintenance.

Probably grasping at straws here but if your p/port is almost expired, is there any point in applying for this or will the imminent change in passport mean my details have changed?

Their website looks like it's crashing or at least under a lot of strain. Accessing main ESTA page takes a few tries but the application process is generally working albeit slowly.

It seemed to stall a couple of times, but managed to get an authorization pretty easily once the application form was displayed. Authorization valid till 07-Sep-2012..

    Thanks, OP!

no point - its related to your passport number so you need to redo with a new passport .

Hit refresh even when it fails, will let you pick back up at that point, though might take 5 tries (for me!)

It's timing out for me as well. May be server is too busy with so many users online now filling up the application. :)

I've seen bales of hay roll faster than that website. The authorisation part and using the homepage was the worst for me, the wait for approval took about 15 retries over a few minutes. Perhaps they couldn't decide if I wasn't already barred from the states?!

Just keep retrying/resending, will eventually come through.. For all we know there could be millions trying to put through their applications and saving their $14:D

Just applied for the whole family... no problems at all. Flew through it...

Might not use it but if lottery ticket comes good you never know; and would not have to pay the fee then too:D

    Hi all,
Signed up for this before the 8th but heard nothing back since? I did get a reference number. Anyone else signed up? You heard anything?

    Cheers,
    M

You've got to put your reference number in and see what happens, I think.
