    Had to get my front pads and discs replaced yesterday...and it cost €250. Was talking to a friend afterwards who does a lot of his own basic mechanical stuff and he was horrified at the cost, based on what he has been able to get the parts for in the past.

    Was I ripped off?

    I replaced mine with help from a friend on my 1.8 Mondeo

    got front discs and mintex pads for 75 pounds delivered off ebay
    brake fluid €10 I think, got it in halfords

    so to me anyway you paid over the odds,
    do you know if they used genuine Ford/Motorcraft parts or cheaper spurious parts?

    Front disc average €90 for a pair and €30 for pads.
    Got mine done recently for my 03 Focus by a mechaniclly minded friend.
    Took about an hour to do.

    @OP

    Sound about right if it was done by a Ford Dealer.

    Yes, the pads/discs can be got for around the €75 mark from your local motor factors (my advice for brake stuff in MF's: never buy the cheapest brake stuff, always spend a little more)

    It was an independent place...receipt gives part numbers and says Pads Ford €80 and Discs Focus €170

    Find out what brand of pad/disc they fit to your car.

    Genuine Ford parts (Motorcraft) will be around the €250 mark. IMO, you should have been charged max €150 for non-genuine, that includes their mark-up on the parts

    Edit:

    You can buy new non-genuine discs (god knows what brand they are, but they will have met the safety requirements) from here:

    Assuming yours is the 1.4;

    Discs €18.49 each x2 = €37
    Pads = €25.50
    Delivery €7.50

    Total: €70

    (And www.micksgarage.ie which I didn't check)
