So Ireland are playing a four day game in Leinster CC in Rathmines against the Netherlands!
Any thoughts on the game? :) Anyone heading to the game?

The netherlands were 86/4 when rain stopped play shortly after lunch!

Trent Johnston taking two wickets, dockrell and eastwood took a wicket a piece also!

Are you at the match? Is there much of a crowd at it? If the weather was nice I couldnt think of a better way to spend a Wednesday afternoon then down at Leinster watching cricket :)

Out of interest actually, you dont happen to play for North Kildare do you...? Did I ask you that before...?!!

I'm at the game. Not much of a crowd - mostly Leinster members and relatives of the players. Hopefully there will be more people there later.

    Currently 183/7.

Ah fair enough! I quite like playing in Pembroke; lost a couple of balls over that sweet short boundary wall in my time :D

I dont actually know Allan; its his debut for Ireland, yeah?

Netherlands 188 all out. Looking good for us in this one but looking at the table, the rain affected draws against Kenya and Scotland and the poor performance losing away to Afghanistan have probably put us out of contention to win it this year. it'd be good to finish the competition strongly though.

Great bowling by Dockrell and van der Merwe. Especially pleased for George as he's playing on his home ground in what could well be the last international game to be played there.

Even though Stirling's already out, Ireland's plan must be to bat just once. Was speaking to TJ this morning as he was hoping to be playing for Railway on Saturday on Alan Murray Cup finals day.

223 for 5 at lunch. Great positive batting by White and Mooney. 70 partnership in quick time.

Currently it's 285 for 5. I'm at the ground, sitting on the pavilion side of the ground, halfway down the wall. Any boardsies in the ground, come & say hi!

All over; won by an innings and 84 runs in the end. Looks like it was a good debut for Eastwood; 4 for 62 in the second innings. Van Der Merwe bowled well as well; 11-5-25-3 and 8-3-15-3 in the two innings.

Just having a look at commentary
38.6 Eastwood to M Kashif, no run. No contact by the batsman
    Eastwood bowling with SIX slips

That must have been quite a sight!
Where were the other 3 fielders?

Also I see among the extras, p 5, I assume penalties? I can't find commentary from early in the innings (a senior moment perhaps) but was this from hitting unused fielding helmet?

I dont see anything in the commentary to suggest what the 5 runs is for. Its not a penalty carried over from the first innings; slow over rate or something like that is it?

Is this Eastwood chap very quick or something? 6 slips is a lot; wouldnt even see that in a test match most of the time!

I saw most of this match from the boundary, a lot of it in the company of the third umpire.

The Ireland field was very attacking all the time. Seamers usually had 3 slips, gully, deepish point, mid on, mid off, midwicket and deep backward square. Spinners always had 2 very close catchers.

The 5 penalties were for a substitute touching the ball without permission. Essentially Paul Stirling came off, and Eoghan Delaney came on. However, nobody told the umps, so when Eoghan fielded the ball it was an illegal act, hence 5 penalty runs.

Great result from the lads. I have photos from the first 2 days up on my website and todays will be up later when I get it sorted.

Eastwood was great today and hoping to get his 5'er but Van Der Merwe got in before him. Solid bowling and fielding displayed and liked TrueDub said, it was always an attacking field from Ireland.

Which of the photographers were you, the guy in the CricketEurope top, or the other guy with the duct tape on the large lens?

I had the Cricket Ireland gear on me. I was the only one there for the 3 days.

Ah right, I said hi to you on a couple of occasions. I was the guy in the black jacket, I spent most of my time chatting to the 3rd ump.

    You going to Tarf tomorrow?

Yeah I'll be there in my cricket Ireland polo tops or hoody. Looking forward to the 2 games

fair play to the lads great win with a day to spare.

Was down in Railway on Saturday and instead of enjoying the day off earned by a comprehensive win Johnson & O'Brien were down their after the adult match running around and bowling to the kids. Great to see

Ireland Win by 9 wickets! wel done lads!

We really need to be playing teams of a higher calibre; no offense to Holland but games and series like this are doing nothing to develop the team whatsoever.

Easy to say, but The Netherlands are on the full ODI table now. If we had that attitude, why should the nine countries above us think differently when playing Ireland?

And from a very short term, selfish point of view, the points we picked up have propelled us back above Zimbabwe. If we kept playing the Netherlands and beating them, we'll eventually be ranked number one in the world (about a thousand matches I think)
