Going to rent out PDH

    Hi,

    Should a person register with the PRTB if they are renting out their private dwelling house? This rental will be for a year, perhaps two.

    Is it advisable? While I am familiar with all rentals properties having a legal obligation.....just wondering.

    If you're going to rent a room in the house you live, look at old posts on why you don't have to give the tenants any lease as such.

    If you live in the dwelling, do not register. If not resident in the dwelling, registration is compulsory, unless the lease is for longer than 35 years.

    PRTB - Private residential...that means you. Give them a ring they are and have been always most helpful when i have dealt with them.

    Thanks for your replies.

    Just wondering, once the job abroad is over and owners are back in Ireland is there a proceedure in place there where you contact the PRTB and tell them that this house is now once again private? Any implications etc.?
