Don't think this has been covered in BA yet, but I was in Lidl yesterday for a few bits and pieces when I noticed this remote control in Lidl.

I have an acoustic solutions DVD/tv combi and sky plus in my bedroom, for 3 years now I've had to use the tv remote and sky remote separately as the sky remote can't operate the tv/DVD no matter how many codes I entered from the net.

This remote for 9.99 now operates the tv DVD and sky plus, and was relatively easy to set up!

The remote features a 'learn' function, ie it will copy the signal coming from your original remotes to effortlessly control any device you need it to work with!

Press tv button, and it works with all the tv functions, press DVD and you have the DVD controls, press SAT and sky plus works, including the tv guide, fast forward, pause etc!

Remote lights up in the dark, so even in a dark room you will know wha button your pressing, comes complete with batteries, and a little stand so the remote can be stood upright on the bedroom locker etc.

For 9.99, I now have one remote to work everything in the bedroom, and in my eyes a reall good bargain!

Yeah. I think it's in all Lidls, the sky plus code is included in the manual, and once entered, the device becomes basically a sky plus remote, to buy a replacement sky remote would prob cost more than this universal one alone.

Really had ALL the functions of the sky plus remote, I.e tv guide, the up button tells you what's on the next channel, the right button what's on next etc etc.

For a tenner, I was really chuffed with it, and how easy it was to setup.

For example, my tv remote has a 'source' button on it, to toggle through the different functions, av1 av2 pc DVD etc, and all. Had to do on my remote to get this function was press 'learn' assign a key on the universal remote (I chose the av button) point th original remote at the universal remote, and press the button. The universal remote copied the infrared beam and stored it, so I now have EVERY function my original tv remote has, now programmed into the Universal one!

Could be tail end stock from a previous offer? It's not listed on their current or next two Monday/Thursday offers on their website anyway.

I think they've had this for a good while now, as it appears in the satellite/tv forums a few times.

I bought mine from Lidl in Naas if this helps.
They prob had ten to fifteen left in stock.

It's called silvercrest, and honestly it was SIMPLE to programme. In the pack it has a brochure with literally hundreds of codes for various appliances, DVD players, satellites, tvs, it even covers amps and cd players.

Simply go through the brochure for your particular device (say samsung tv) and it will have a four digit code. Enter the code from brochure, and the universal remote will operate said device just as the genuine remote would have!

    Simple, genius!

Would this work with a western digital media player?

This will work with ANY remote control, simply point the original remote at this one, and it 'copies' the infared signal from the remote, which gives you the option to control any device using a remote control

Have you tried using the learning function, so it can Copy the signal?

    It should do, yeah.

May sound obvious but does not work with cinema systems that have two way remote controls (where the receiver 'talks' to the remote control) or RF controls, hence your Sony incompatability I'd guess

    Hi, Folks.

That remote control is out of stock in most Lidl stores. Is there any other universal remote that will handle sky+ ?

Bought one of these ages ago, forgot I had it and found it yesterday when cleaning up.
Problem is I can't find the manual :(
Anyone know where I can find an online version?

Is that the same model or an upgraded version thats on offer next Thursday. It's priced at €10.99 now. Still very good value if it does the job that Gucky's one does.

It's this which is a model I've not seen before. Quite ugly IMO.

Aesthetics dont bother me. If it works, it'll do me fine:) Thanks for the link. I'll have the manual off by heart by next Thursday.:D

    Works for me.

I pulled the code from the codebook - 5204 (5203 seems to work too). Only thing I changed, was I went through the Learn function, to put TV Guide function to the Menu button, as otherwise, I had to press S, then FAV/EPG to get the Guide.

Hope I'm not getting too far off topic here. I didnt catch onto the bit about pressing S first. Although it still seems to be missing quite a lot of functions such as backup as far as I can see.

It should work effortlessly with sky plus, enter the code from the manual, great bargain imo, considering curries etc charging forty and up fir similar items!

You can make it 'learn' back up, or any other function missing.

The one I'm referring to is the more recent one from last week which, I think, is different from the one you referred to in your original post. I wish I'd have gotten your one.
I agree they're both very good value for money.

I got one of those remotes. Have spent the last 3 hours tuning the TV, DVD, Sky+(due for out on 14/9/10) & UPC Digital +. The learn function is pretty good. All the items except the UPC stb respond quickly. I find you have to press a button a couple of times to get a response From that box. May come fully right eventually:)
