Hi all, I am trying to find out where I would go to get all-ireland hurling final tickets? I know they wouldnt be on sale until after the Waterford v Tipp semi-final. Also if anyone knows of when they would be on sale? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks :D

Only the clubs get them, you wont really see any spares floating around until a day or 2 before the game.

Hi there....if you go to Quinns pub or the Auld Triangle Pub the day of the match you will meet fans with spare tickets for sale at face value...

There is no need to go to a tout.

get on to your local club and any person you know who's in a club any where around the country esp in the west and north becouse there will be less intrest in for tickets in those areas

Just ask everybody you know if they know anybody that could get you a ticket. Keep asking!

I think you'll find that because Kilkenny are going for the historic 5-in-a-row that demand will be high and members of clubs from the west and north will be there on the day.

I think you underestimate the general apathy to hurling in the west and the north, sir. Maybe a few board member and a couple of fantics, be they players or general fans. That's going to be the contingent from the vast majority of the counties at best.

Killkenny could be going for a 17th All-Ireland in a row and it wouldn't be as interesting to most people as a final with two - perceived - equally matched teams.

I reckon KK county board will have done deals with other counties, swapping their allocation of footbal tickets for hurling tickets from other counties. So if Kildare get to the final of the Football, Kilkenny and Kildare will swap their allocations or something like this

As has been mentioned most county boards will swap their tickets to other boards in advance, I think Clare are still paying off their's :D

Best places to get tickets, in no particular order
From someone in the counties involved, don't forget the minor finalists for this.
    Local club (tough)
Teacher - a lot of tickets are assigned to teachers.
Kilmacud Crokes the evening before, there can often be a few tickets around at the 7s.
As has been mentioned, Quinn's, Big Tree, Finagan's

The GAA season ticket. I always mean to get it but keep letting it go every year . Have a chat with your club secretary tommorow, if you usually get tickets off him you have a better chance of getting them for the final.

To be honest, in the pubs before the game its the rare honest person who will give it at face value when they know they could get a profit from it. There is the odd good soul that would prefer to make a genuine fans day by not ripping them off tho so as a last resort, definately worth a shot. I would definately try the clubs in counties with not much of a hurling interest tho. I know a few times some of my extended family got tickets thru my uncles club in Sligo and it was relatively painless compared to trying to get them thru bigger hurling counties.

Would anyone advise making the trip up on AI Final day without a ticket? What are the general odds of getting one, let alone at face value?

IMHO Its actually rare for someone to try to make a profit - the vast maority of fans sell them on at face value when they have spares

Definitely - both last year and the year before, tickets were plentiful on the weekend of the game. If you are still stuck on sunday go to Meaghers (Clonliffe rd) before the game. They have a PA system and announce any spare tickets that people have.

Really? I havent got any experience of buying a ticket in a pub pre All Ireland final but just presumed that most would go for a bit of profit. Fair fecks tho if most sell at face value. Was great seeing all the touts outside the big tree before Dublin v Meath actually. Obviously they expected a sell out and bought loads but they were more or less begging people to take tickets off their hands. Always nice to see them get screwed!

I've gone to Dublin for four football finals (96 twice, 99 and 01) without tickets and have got sorted each time, always around Quinns, McGraths, Big Tree etc. The only time I paid over face value was the drawn game in 96 when I paid £50 for a £10 hill ticket. I've been to a couple more as a neutral and there always seemed to be a few floating about so i would say take the chance.

I've been to quite a few All-Ireland finals in the last few years and in my experience you will at least find someone selling a Hill ticket at face value in one of the pubs that has already been mentioned.

Know a few ppl before the Hurling All Ireland last year that couldn't get rid of Tickets before the match. Touts were even selling at face value when I was walking up O'Connell Street.

Definitely worth a try getting them the day of a match. At the final last year there were loads of people looking for people to buy them and at face value too. Worth a shot

    How's it going,

I'm writing to you in regards to your post about All Ireland tickets being sold on Saturday evening in Kilmacud Crokes around at the 7s. What I'd like to know is do I go into the main GAA club or is there a separate place/area for the 7s?
I hope you can shed some light on this

    Thanks

    Please don't.

I'm sure you'd be able to swop a stand ticket for a Hill ticket without much trouble :)

The main campus is taken over at the 7s, it has been a while since I've been there but any time I was there it was always a great day out.

In case anyone cares, I received my 2 Cusack Stand tickets last Friday, €140, I don't have much interest in the seniors to be honest but All Ireland Day is a real highlight every year

Grand, so my best bet is to head to the Crokes clubhouse and ask around there? Yeah.... and anyone in particular?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators, Regional Midwest Moderators Posts: 24,028 Mod ✭✭✭✭Clareman

Your best bet would be to watch the matches, show how you're a great supporter and say how it's a pity you don't have a ticket for the match the next day to anyone that'll listen :D
