I spotted this sign, in Cashel, on Paddys day. Two weeks ago it was still there.

I wonder is the Poitin Stil in Dublin and the White House in Roscrea still in operation, popular eateries in the days before Motorways and cheap ryanair internal flights for me.

Truckers aren't exactly known for their refinement.

It'll include rashers and baked beans. Lots and lots of baked beans, even if its salad. And lots of doorstop bread. And tea. Lots and lots of tea.

    4 course trucker meal?

    1 - tae
    2 - 8 sausages, 4 rashers, tin 'o' beans 4 fried eggs, 4 black pudd, 4 2inch thick shlices a toast with mug a tae.
    3 - swiss roll w'custurd.
    4 - tae

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,540 ✭✭✭Giselle

And fried mushrooms, the only vegetable known to truckers apart from beans.

Truckers? Sorry, sounds too 'deep southern American' for my liking. I'm just going to call them Truck Drivers

Truckers know their filling greasy food so i'm guessing if i have a huge hangover a 4 course greasy meal for 12.99 might do the job. belly licking good:D

    I dont see any joke:confused:

Why are you asking OP? Mother Hubbards is a top place to eat, no-one ever goes home still feeling hungry. I always get roast beef from the carvery, yum

I can't see why I wouldn't eat there tbh - probably not where I'd bring a girl out to now for a romantic evening now but if I wanted a feed can't see what's wrong with it at all - seems to be very good value - how bad could it be

superiority is great, but only when you actually get it right.
Neither beans nor mushrooms are a vegetale.

Mother Hubbards does a great big dirty all day full Irish.
Every single ingredient including the bread is deep fried.

They are if you want them to be. 'Vegetable' is not a specific, scientific term and can be applied to pulses/legumes and fungus based on their culinary application.

    Do you work there?

If I were to judge this restaurant by this ad alone. I'd wonder how much food preparation training, the staff and management recieved, that they can't spot such coarse spelling in a menu item.
I actually do eat their all day breakfast about once a month and have no complaints other than their toilets could do with more ventilation to deal with truckers deposits.

Mother Hubbards is a great place to eat.

Whenever im hauling ass across the country i always make a stop in one of them.

Truckers need 4 course meals to soak up the alcohol in their systems. :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,061 ✭✭✭✭Terry

It's over-rated. There are plenty of smaller places along that road which do far better greasy breakfasts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,228 ✭✭✭Chairman Meow

Im assuming this is actually not a typo and is supposed to be a pun, as truckers need 'tough' meals etc

So it's actually four hard-to-chew meals?

You could be right, but often something like this is due to a spellchecker program at the signwriters. I've seen a brasserie go 3 weeks, with the word brassiere over their door, before anyone noticed.

I've eaten in Abrakebabra so obviously I would eat there!

If its not animal or mineral, vegetable will do.

Speaking of superiority, you spelt vegetable wrong.:)
