Any Dutch or anyone attend a Dutch wedding?

We've been invited to a wedding in Rotterdam in September and would love any advice we could get. The bride and groom are Dutch btw.

We seem to be invited to a church ceremony and then to "cut the cake afterwards" at about lunchtime and then to a "festival" at 8pm in a town nearby to Rotterdam.

Does anyone know if this means we stay with the wedding party for the whole time? What do people tend to wear to weddings? and what kind of gifts are the norm? Any other information you can think of would be most appreciated.

    Thanks :)

I've been to a wedding in Rotterdam, I don't understand the protocall with that invite tbh, but I recall people dressed like a wedding here in Ireland, smart and stylish!
Gifts etc is the same as here too.

My sister is getting married in Holland next year to a dutchman! I think what happens is that anyone can attend the service but only immediate family have the sit down meal and then anyone can attend the after party. During the sit down meal my sister has arranged boat trips with food and drinks for the people not going to the meal so they won't be stuck for a couple of hours with nothing to do. I'm not sure if this is what everyone does over there but from what I can make out it does seem to be quite common.:)
