    Its FREE, FREE, FREE!!
    The Weird Scientist is back!

On Friday the 17th September in the basement of the Sweeney Mongrel(previously Le Cirk on Dame Street) I'm proud to present an evening of tunes that are not only recession friendly but recession deadly.

We're starting at 9pm where we will have some of Dublins finest acoustic talent till 11.30pm. LISA MCLAUGHLIN(www.myspace.com/lisamclaughlinmusic), ROB WALSH(www.myspace.com/rob.walsh) and WAYNE SOPER from the Hot Sprockets(www.myspace.com/thehotsprockets) will all be kicking the night off and then come 12 o'clock the ones and zero hero's(dj's) are gonna come out.

Kicking off the techno buzz we have DOUG COONEY and BARRY GREAVES. The lads are currently producing together and have been flyin the techno flag with finesse in Dublin for the last few years.
Doug is also part of the Realsound team who are currently learning the locals in Ableton and numerous other digital skills if your interested check out http://realsound.squarespace.com/

Headlining our night we have FRAN HARTNETT, if your unfamiliar with Fran, have a read of this...:

Fran Hartnett is one of the most experienced artists in Dublin’s techno scene. He began his DJ career in 1997, and then spent many years DJing at countless clubs, one-off events and raves, supporting many internationally renowned artists. Amongst these were techno luminaries such as Joey Beltram, The Advent, Kevin Saunderson, Marco Carolla, and Rolando. During these years Fran gradually gained a reputation as an accomplished DJ in his own right.

Ten years on, in 2007, Fran was awarded a first class honours masters degree in Music and Media Technology, following two years of intense study in Trinity College, Dublin. By this time he had made the transition from DJing to playing his own music live, supporting a number of internationally acclaimed artists (Surgeon, The Advent, The Black Dog, James Ruskin) with his deep, dark, industrial tinged and powerful hardware based techno sets.

The first half of 2009 saw the release of a number of remixes, including a remix of ‘Angles’ by Dutch techno legend Orlando Voorn, on the Irish label Nice and Nasty Records. Later in the year, an original track by Fran called ‘Alpha’, appeared on ‘Trapdoor Material Part 2’, released on vinyl 12” for Dublin’s Mantrap Records. This track has seen support from techno heavyweights like Surgeon (who has played it in his sets everywhere from New York to Berlin), Inigo Kennedy, Rob Hall, Kr!z, Jerome Hill, Paul Mac, Grovskopa, Charlton, and many more. Set for release in July 2010 is number 53 in the legendary Fabric mix CD series - a new mix by Surgeon which will include Fran’s previously unreleased track ‘It Was Written In Vapour’.

2010 is going to be a busy year for Fran. Following his first live show outside of Ireland, in Gent, Belgium, in May, there are a number of new releases currently in production. So far confirmed is a remix and a solo EP on digital label Limetree, a split EP with Anodyne (who has just been remixed by Autechre) for Mantrap records, a track on the second release of Irish digital label Stasis Records, a track on a compilation for Spanish label Subsist, and he also hopes to soon finish an EP for infamous Dutch label Audio Assault, who have taken an interest in his recent material.

I dont think anymore of my ranting could possibly big up Fran or tell you anything you dont know so all I'll say is that this a great opportunity to see some quality acts lash it out for FREE!!!

    Hope to see you there!!!
