Running shops...

    Hi all,
I have a couple of questions I was hoping for some help with.
I've looked through old threads, hope I'm not duplicating any.

I had been doing a lot of running but tore ligaments in my ankle in a Muay Thai fight in May. When I started back training I did a lot of skipping to try and catch up my fitness but I developed shin splints, something I'd never gotten before in my life. Very frustrating.
I rested and they went away and I'm back training but haven't been running. But now I want to do a 10 mile charity run in October.

I saw some threads which mention running shops in Dublin where they will check your gait etc and recommend a pair of runners based on that info. I was wondering if there are any shops like that in Waterford, Cork or the south-east?

And I was also wondering if any experienced people here have any other advice they might wish to give me for getting back into road running, avoiding shin splints, correct footwear etc.

Any advice at all would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Try John Buckley Sports in Cork - they should be able to look after you in terms of gait analysis and recommending you shoes.

there is a place in Carrick as well - on the main street - name escapes me right now but the guy who owns the shop is really helpful and runs himself - if I can find the number later I'll post it. I would say ring ahead though cause he can get kinda busy and you don't wanta drive up and not be able to get the analysis done!

Hey ok. Had a quick look on the threads and I can't find where you were saying there were shops to check your gait in Dublin. Rainbow...seeing as how you seem to know everything...Any suggestions???

    In Dublin?
    Amphibian King in Bray
    Runways on Parnell Street
Elverys on Suffolk Street and Dundrum Shopping Centre

    In that order.
