I have an interview with Pearse College in 3 weeks for the adult leaving cert course - but I have no idea what to wear! I know, I'm posting this early, but I want give myself as much time as possible especially if I need to buy stuff online.

I'm 19, female, 5"5 and tbh I usually only wear jeans, t-shirts hoodies.

Can anyone help with what to wear?

    Thanks.

I think a fitted white shirt with a nice skirt/black trousers would look great,
I'm the same age as you and for an interview recently I wore a nice day dress
    with a fitted jacket,

Good luck with your interview :)

Like in this pic? But maybe with a different skirt/shoes?

Tbh, I dunno about it, is it not a bit too 'grown up' and more for a job interview than a college interview?

Do you mind me asking, what dress did you wear?

Thanks for your suggestion though, I appreciate you trying to help. :)

That is too grown up, I was thinking of my friends at their college interviews actually, one
of them wore a crisp white shirt with black skinny jeans and heels, another wore
a black trousers with a nice blazer.

I think these frill shirts are both young and sophisticated, What's your personal style like?

I wore this dress with a fitted jacket for an interview recently.

I think it would be great for your college interview actually and age appropriate.

I usually only wear jeans, t-shirts and hoodies lol, I rarely wear anything dressy.

The last time I was dressed up properly was at my cousins wedding a year ago when I was a bridesmaid.

I don't have any dress clothes tbh, well none that I can think of. I'll have a proper root tomorrow through all my clothes and see what I have.

Thanks for those links, but tbh, I wouldn't wear any of those clothes, I hate frills and pinstripes.:o Thanks though.

Maybe a fitted jacket with a trousers/skirt that you feel comfortable in, It doesn't
have to have frills etc there are plenty of simple ones, Have a look on the high street
and see what you feel comfortable in, Have you any thoughts yourself on what you would like?

I don't know about a jacket, shirt and skirt/trousers, it seems to OTT or something.

    Tbh, I have no idea.

I came across these two dresses, but I'm not sure if they're suitable for a college interview.

skater dress with black tight and flat pumps.

knit dress with tights and flat pumps

I have the two tops which I posted pictures of here and I could wear them with skinny jeans and pumps/sandals.

I think those tops would be perfect with skinny jeans and the knit dress is
gorgeous. I'm sure you will impress in either outfit, Hope it all goes really well.

I love the tops too, the dresses are fab as well, but I would be careful of the length it you're any way tall ;)

I wore a grey wool dress with a red belt, a black cardigan, tan tights and black flats to my college interview back in May. I also tied my hair back in a ponytail (cardinal rule of interviews, keep hair off face) and kept my jewellery and makeup understated. Think smart casual and simple and you can't go wrong (and yes, I did get my college place, one of only two positions for mature students. :) )

As bearhugs said, be very careful of the length of your skirt/dress. I'd advise against wearing anything shorter than just above knee length for any sort of college interview. Remember, regardless of what course you're applying for, you need to look professional.

I like the second dress - the knit dress - you mentioned above. A fitted shirt and trousers/skirt is always a safe bet if you can't find the dress that you like.

    Best of luck.

    Thanks for the help everyone.

I think I'll just go with the Grey top, skinny jeans and flat Grey pumps.

I have looked and looked and cannot find anything else lol. Also, one of the dresses (knit dress, I think) only ships to the UK anyway (I only noticed after I posted the link lol), so not much use to me here in Ireland.

    Hi,

    I have another question lol:

Should I pain my finger nails in a coloured nail-polish or just a clear nail polish?

My nail are short (I cut them last week as they were driving me mad lol).

If I should wear coloured nail-polish, what colour should I wear?

    Thanks.

Hi, I would go with clear nail varnish for an interview saves hassle, worrying about it chipping etc.

Definitely go with clear nail varnish for an interview. Just make sure your naiils are clean! :pac:

    Thanks everyone.

I wore the Grey top, skinny jeans and Grey pumps and a white hoodie (I forgot my black cardigan and it was cold out lol).

I got my place in the college too.:D
