Montage's-yay or nay

    Pesonaly I'd rather suck wet farts out of dead sheep than watch a montage.Have no interest in doing graphic design so couldnt care less how well edited they are.

    I've racked up quite a few hours on CoD games so I reckon at this stage I'd have quite a few 'pwn' moments to put in a montage so I'm not that impressed with triple kills with a campersniper rifle's.

    Gimmee a ten minute gameplay video where he does it all and gets a 30-1 k/d then I'd be impressed...

    So what makes you like/dislike montage's

    Great editing/music doesnae interest me tbh.

    I like
    * Aggressive play
    * Different weapons
    * Sharp shootin
    * Clever play (like Sandy Ravage having to reload in one of his vids, his opponent sees him, so Sandy strafes left and right behind a pillar, pops back out and BAM!)
    * Long clips, which show sustained good play.

    I'm not interested in clips of where the person stumbles accross 3 blokes and has his spas handy to dispatch them.

    I like Magill's that I've seen so far - Tallon's are always enjoyable and the ultimate that I've seen (professional wise) is Randy Savage.

    +1 Everlast

    I hate seeing these little snipits of some chap getting a triple kill with a semtex while the enemies take B. Long clips of someone getting nice an tidy kills. It's also good to see nice editing. That one knocking about on the "Post your Call of Duty Pics & Videos here" from Optic Predator is quite clever.

    I've watched a tonne of montages lately and I've found that Sandy Ravage and SeaNanners are the best. Another chap called sam5000 just embarasses people and we all know that's funny.

    If I was arsed I'd make one myself but I dont have the time tbh.

    I like watching unedited clan matches. Montages are too common these days.

    Thanks everlast ;)

    In fairness they arent for everyone, i personally dont watch that many, only of people that i know or that get posted on here. I just love ****ing about in vegas/AE atm, more enjoyable than playing the game for me atm.

    Nothing wrong with showing people some sweet kills streaks you got. M st montages arent collected over a long period, my first one is from like 3 or 4 games in 1 night and my second one is over a period of a week. Both i spent 3/4 hours putting together when i had all my clips cut out etc.

    Im sure most people find full gameplays boring tho ? 30-1 in 10 minutes would be sooo boring :D

    EDIT, bah, no by mistake.

    I agree, they are just snippets of great moments of a lot of games.
    You cant judge a good game or a good player from that.

    I'm way more impressed with good full games, while you can still say yes this could have just been a fluke good game of that player but its far more dependable a meter stick than montages.

    I enjoy full match videos simply cause I love studying others styles and tactics to see if I can learn from them. ANYONE can through a montage together at the end of a days gaming and look like a god.

    Full clips for me too, or at least montages with long clips not just random quickscopezzzzz, a lot of them you have to wonder was the guy just sitting around trying to get this one amazing shot. Thats why I prefer watching Smoove and Ravage videos, Smoove may camp like a bastard but hes an entertaining commentator, and Ravage is just amazing to watch at times.

    Some of the fluke moments I get, if put together with some nice editing, would make me look like a God. Double headshots with spas,multikill spray with Ump, multikills with pred etc etc, and I'm not even half good :D

    I prefer full gameplays alot more, even better if they've commentary, you can learn alot from them. I think that montages are 50% gameplay 50% editing, which I don't like.

    I'd gladly watch a montage if it was footage taken from Clan matches/Scrims from gamebattles or decerto. At least then you'd know that the "pwn" moments were against relatively good players and not the incapable herd of sheep you find on XBL/PSN.

    I mean just before I wrote this post I went 15-2 on SnD on CoD4. That means consistant good gameplay. I could easily take 1/2 good kills per game and mash them into a video to make myself look 1337, but I wont.

    I like to watch montages every now and again but gameplay vids are by far the best. Even if the player isn't the best in the world you can sometimes pick up hints and tips or you'll see someone do something that you never thought of doing yourself.

    I prefer full games clips but I've seen
    - player jumping from the tall hanger in Quarry for the game winning kill with the intervention while spinning to his doom.
    - 360 all pro
    - jumping from tower in rust and getting the winning kill while 360'ng with the throwing knife

    etc etc they're always worth watching

    i rarely watch them . the ones im interested in either have a friend or me in them . anyone else not really that bothered .

    @ r3nu4l

    i think its better when people have there own style though . im sure there are examples of information you can get from other players that would be usefull . but at the same time far too many things are common knowledge . like at the start of a game when you have 6 or 7 players bum rushing one spot because everyone knows you will have a good vantage point on the enemy team . and no one see's the one player who takes the long way round and f**ks them up from behind with a silencer
