Not called the M1 but BMW has released a video of an upcoming M version of the 1 series coupe. Its got a straight 6 and supposedly does 0-62mph in 4.2secs. Sounds nice too...

    So this or the M3??...

1 series coupe has really grown on me since introduced, mate of mine has the 123d msport and she's an animal tbh, serious handling and great on the juice.

Saw a nice white specced up 1 series coupe with a carbon fibre boot lip spoiler and it was seriously tasty looking. Saw a boggo, cloth-seats one in black and it was fairly underwhelming. Guess which will be more popular in Ireland...

"M1" or M3? Let's face it, the 1 series coupe will attract the same response as the MINI from most people - girls car.

Edit - and at least a Cooper S would sell quick enough when it came round to it, dunno how much of a market there would be for a "M1"

The 1-series is really ugly though. The Coupe looks like a 3-series coupe that shrank in the wash. It's all out of proportion.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

I reckon that's just a remapped version of the 3l twin turbo engine in the standard 135i. As such not really worthy of the M title. That said, the standard 135i is a cracker of a car, much more like the original M3 than the current M3 is. Remap, upgrade the suspension and all the other M-sport bits and it will no doubt go like in the clip

    I want one :D

Way overpriced for what it is! It will suffer from the poor mans BMW image, could'nt afford a 3 series!

    Only among fools, TBH.

I'm sure its fast and all but I don't know if turbo power suits an M car, it just seemed a little subdued.
Perhaps does not bode well for me liking the new M5 then either..

BMW has revealed its fastest and most extreme series production 1-series yet: the 335bhp M coupe. It will go on sale in the UK in May after a debut at next month’s Detroit motor show and will be priced at around £38,000, £13,000 cheaper than an M3.

The only thing that worries me is that the 1 Series now pretty much hasn't changed since 2004. When the e92 M3 came out, it was only the market a year, and a newer one with revised styling was out. So if you bought this now, when they inevitably refresh the long overdue 1 series family, will you have the old one, with the old interior (Which lets the car down in a big way, whatever about the exterior/engine/chassis)?

Love the 1 series coupe. Sat in a 135i in Munich earlier this year, awesome car.

I love the look of the 1-series coupe, very like the proportions of my old E30 coupe. Would love to have a drive of one

more pics and a video here

surprising to see it next to the E90 M3 - 3 Series has grown a lot over the years, the 1 Series actually looks bigger...

As said above, I think the 1 series looks like a 3 series a truck hit from behind.
Then, I like my cars long.

Sure it's all tastes. I wouldn't buy a white car either.

In terms of looks, i'd put the 1 series well ahead of the E92 but still behind the E30. I'm not a huge fan of white myself, but it tends to suit German cars in general and BMW in particular.

Looks class and at the same time stocky and beefy... can't see me getting a brand new car ever again though!

I'd have one, I think they look good. As long as they're kept clean, polished, and don't come in bog standard 16i spec, I think they are a tidy motor. I'd even like a M version of the hatch.

Not sure what price BMW Ireland will bring it in at but this gives them food for thought.

Although over such a long lap the time difference is nothing.
