An angry flight attendant fled his airliner via the emergency escape slide after a passenger whacked him over the head with overhead luggage and then refused to apologise.

Steven Slater, 39, who downed a beer from the galley first, was under arrest today accused of endangering the plane and trespassing after the incident at New York's JFK International airport.

He now has a facebook support page. :)

Fair play to him for letting some steam off.

in fairness the reaction of the flight attendant was a bit unusual. if that was me i would have decked the passenger insuring i knocked him out put him in his seat and went on with my business remarking to the rest of my passengers with a stern look on my face. please stay in your seats until the aircraft has come to a complete stop and the captain has turned off the seatbelt sign thank you.:D

Absolutely, it was an overreaction on his part but i believe in treating people as you would like to be treated with respect and dignity. I was reading in a Rag today he already has a FB page on him and thousands of "well wishers" i wonder will JetBlue re-instate him, apparently he was highly regarded by them and the Airlines he has worked for in the past.

He is certainly getting the publicity.

Looks like he might not have difficulty with a follow up career.

Now imagine the exact same story if his name had been Mohanned Al Hizari.

I some doubt criminal mischief would be the charge..

Doubt it, I would imagine when an airline is hiring cabin crew they are looking for people who can deal with difficult passengers without throwing a hissy fit (particularily if the hissy bit is the emergency slide being deployed :D)
