Cobh has a cancer rate at least 37% higher than the national average. There have been countless people diagnosed with different forms of cancer down the years with mothers, brothers, fathers, sisters etc dying. The toxic dump at haulbowline is not safe yet the government after initially confirming there would be a health study have backtracked and said there will be none. This is WRONG!!!
Please please please sign the petition. 100,000 signatures and this will be taken to a european level. Lets make sure no more families suffer the unnecessary pain of losing a loved one.

There is an Oliver Stone movie in the Pipeline.

I'll wait until Joe Duffy hears about this, until then its not an official scandal

Same thing happening down here, about 12 people this year have died of cancer in my town and the population is only about 1,500.

Is it 44% higher than the national average or 37%? Any links to this national cancer average by town/area?

If you want to ensure your childrens safety...move town.

Locked as this isn't the place for it.
Left visible as I'm in a good mood.

OP can you PM me info on how 100.000 signatures will take it to a European level?

All I see from link is: "The Government has refused to carry out a baseline health study in Cork Harbour, despite the discovery of a toxic waste dump adjacent to a town that has a 44% higher cancer rate than the national average." This is a quote for the Irish Examiner 17th May 2010 We need to show the Government that refusing this health study is not an option. For our future and the children's future we must put the pressure on."
