What Brand/Model?

    Hi All,
I'm looking to upgrade my 37" Philips LCD to a new model and looking to spend 800-900 euro. I am torn at the moment between LCD and Plasma. I obviously want full HD and interested as well in a model with MPEG4 and internet capabilities. Its a bit of a minefield out there on all of the different websites so I was wondering if anyone here has any good advice and suggestions on brands/models etc.

    Thanks

If you like LCD and you're willing to go for one again, then i'd recommend one of these

Its as good an lcd you're going to get at this price, has plasma deep black levels and is 100H, it also has an internet@tv function but i dont know a lot about it. The only circumstance i wouldnt recommend this is if you're a gamer, it has a bit of input lag sadly. Here;s a review

If you're looking for a plasma at this price range, this should be of interest

    http://www.powercity.ie/?par=10-13-P42S20

An excellent plasma set, deep black levels as usual and a free 5 year warranty, no internet tv function though. Here's a review of this one

To my mind those are the best lcd and plasma's around 40" in your budget at the moment

    Here's another option though

    http://www.powercity.ie/?par=10-14-P50X20

Its a 50" monster and at a bargain price there too, 5 year warranty also. It is only hd ready though and probably not recommended if its going into a bright room. It would be a very good plasma still though, and is terrific bang for buck at that price, well worth considering

All those three have an mpeg4 tuner too btw! :)

I've decided to spend a little more myself and get an 42" S20 Plasma. Great to hear that it is 'highly recommended':D

I went for a Philips 40PFL8605H in the finish. Just got it yesterday and I have to say its an awesome TV. Fantastic picture quality way ahead of what I had previously. I bought it from the the Philips Store through Boards.ie. Fair play to them.....an excellant service. Thanks to Ash in particular.
