    Why is she now all over the papers why would her opinions or pics of where she was for a night out appeal to anyone, she lost her father and it must be very tough but why do rte and independant newspapers push her onto the public.

    Because she's trying to get a career up and running, and being talked about and featured in papers and stuff is the way celebrities and public figures get a career up and running...

    I remember hearing she was filming a TV show while in the middle of her journalism course, but said that she didn't feel she was getting any opportunities because of her father. Oh, how I laughed :D

    If there's a job going in RTE when was the last time the vacancy appeared in the paper?
    Is there nobody outside the usual suspects and thier families and flunkies who are capable of presenting a show?

    ^ it's not unique, the BBC are infamous for nepotism....but things have chaged in recent years, i think the poster has a valid point, reason being we're Irish and as such have the right to comment on RTE and it's cronies.

    In fairness this isnt the guy who does the weather on the weekends when the other guy is away's daughter. It is Gerry Ryan's daughter hence she generates interest of the press, station bosses and the public. With her father's recent death there is a natural narrative there which the public are interested in. A few months on from it we now can see Gerry's true commerical value to RTE and his legacy. Again if she has a nth of her father's talent for broadcasting then she is worth a look at/developing. All of which gives her viewers/listeners that the "more suitable candidate" doesnt attract on the first day. Whether she transitions that to something worth watching or listening remains to be seen. At least go into it with an open minded rather complain for the sake of complain or what was witnessed in this thread make personal attacks against her or her family.

    Agreed..they've demonstrated thier willingness to shoehorn unsuitable presenters into shows before..in some cases for 20 years.
