Just flicked on this in the last ten minutes. Guy playing rugby broke his neck and completely paralysed.

    Fair play to him.

Good program. It is a very moving tribute to him.

Watching it as well, poor fella. Such an unfortunate accident.

He's so optimistic though, has all these plans to invent things to make his new life easier :)

my gosh such optimism for the future considering what happened him.

And for the end to come so young for him. His mam is right though, he has left a legacy.

I remember him, he was in my year in UCC. Talked to him a few times, nice guy.

Yes I saw it too, and found it very touching.

Really showed what a tough time he had but he never seemed to let his spirits go down.
Really showed how fragile we all are.

I had heard of him before but was shocked that he actually died, despite the program's title. Thought the death in the title signified death of his old mobile life.

Sad as his passing is, I think he is probably better off, considering the quality of life he had. Seeing as he was so active before his accident I'm sure he found it very frustrating.

Also, can't understand why RTE used subtitles for when he spoke. For me he spoke perfectly clearly and I found it a bit of an insult to the man.

No one complains when BBC subtitle someone with a Cork accent. :pac:

Heard of him before but I didnt realise he passed away. Unbelievable attitude of the man. Sh!t happens but its not going to get me down, just accept it and move on!
Really puts trivial things that p!ss me off into perspective

I agree completely, no need for subtitles. It seemed to be on an ad-hoc basis too, sometimes they subtitled him and on other occasions they didn't. Although, it was a BBC documentary, so perhaps that explains it?

Thought it was very good. He achieved a lot in his few years. Certainly does put everything else into perspective.

It's an absolutely shocking accident and life he had to live. He and his family deserve our sympathy and his story is worth hearing. But part of me thinks when I'm watching these programs that it's all to make a harrowing documentary detailing personal tragedies. You can do it for almost any type of tragedy you can think of and the end product is pretty much the same.
