    Hi All,

Has anyone stayed in either or both, which would you recommend ?

Hoping to take the hubby away for a night for his birthday so I want to go somewhere near enough

Looking forward to hearing your views :D

Seafield - by a country mile. They have good midweek deals €50 - €60 PP. Nice place to relax, no kids running around etc.

I haven't been to Kelly's, but I have been to Seafield, and it was awful. The rooms are grand and the spa is lovely, but the hotel it is run like Fawlty Towers -- screaming kids in the bar at 10pm at night, huge queues for breakfast, mediocre food, poor service. Maybe it's improved since I've been there, but I couldn't recommend it.

Without a doubt Kellys- always busy which is a good sign great food and lots to do

Seafield is cheaper but theres a reason why!!

The SeaSpa in Kellys is amazing. V. pricey but gorgeous. The food is fabulous. Try to go when kids are back in school so you won't be overrun by somebody else's pwecious likkle angels (tongue VERY firmly in cheek:D) One meeeelion times better than Seafield & worth the drive.

Kellys is much more family orientated so there are lots of kids around. Personally I would prefer stay there but not in August when it awash with kids. At this time of year seafield would be a safer bet

It depends on what you want?
Do you want a beach beside you?
If not then why not go a little further down the road to Dunbrody house near Wexford? They've an excelent restaurant. It's an old manor house and kevin Dundons property.
OR if you want to splash out head to the cliff house hotel just south of Dungarvan, they have a michelin star restaurant and are right on the sea.

As regards Seafield,I've never stayed there,I've driven around the grounds and the adjacent golf club. The beach is lovely but if the hotel service is bad, you'd be better off in a caravan in my opinion.
It's a beautifull beach and area in fine weather.

I've also never stayed in Kelly's but know people who go there every year with a small family and like it.
The surrounds and the resort wouldn't look out of place in a foreign country if you had the weather.

I thought that Seafield was quite nice (lovely dinner). However, they advertise themselves as having Thermal Suites - which was really nothing more than a glorified pool. Very disappointed with that.

Can't believe there is even any decision to be made.
Kellys is a different league to Seafield...completley.

    Seafield is grand..

    However Kellys is simply amazing...

As a previous poster said Dunbrody house is fab as well..the food there is amazing..and its near enough to Duncannon which is a gorgeous little village on the coast.

Horetown house in Wexford is nice also

If you really really want to splurge go to Monart. I have never stayed anywhere quite like it. Got a gift of a 2 night break there..and its the nicest place I have ever stayed in anywhere in the World.
