Aston Villa v West Ham United
    Blackburn Rovers v Everton
    Bolton Wanderers v Fulham

    Spurs v Man City
Tottenham are a team I've pegged to hopefully make me some money this season especially in goal related markets and with an apparant lack of defensive organisation and a very attacking philosophy being a trait of Harry Redknapp's managerial style, I'd fancy a team with City's firepower to create a fair few good opportunities on the counter by exploiting the spaces left at the back and have a decent chance to put away 2+ in what could be a thrilling season opener

Selection Offering Value: Man City to score 2 or more goals @ 7/4 (skybet), 45%

My pick would be Everton away to Blackburn @ 8-5. Arteta to be the main man.

Odds here for all PL games

Man Utd (-1.0) 1.72 must be a decent shout, they were beaten 2-1 by Rangers ditto Norwich, they have signed Sol Campbell to help shore up a dodgy back line (I can see lots of goals involving the Magpies this season) Steve Taylor is out for three months.
    + 2.5 market is 1.66

Main bet will be ManU -1. Small bet on -2 as well I'll have something on an accumulator.

Reckon in my accum I'll go with either -
    ManU + Chelsea -1
    Everton Win
    Wigan Win
    @ 12/1

    or

    ManU + Chelsea -1
    @ around 2.5/1

The other matches I'm avoiding especially Villa(got burned last season with them vs Wigan in the opener then) :pac:

MON just resigned from Villa, so West Ham could get a result out of that match.

Just backed them at 11/5 DNB

I think Liverpool under new management are a different animal. I dont think its great value to be honest.

Arsenal defence is looking a bit shaky, dunno of Torres will be back he is not on international duty thankfully.

Arsenal will possibly start with Frimpong and Wilshere in midfield. I could end up being wrong but if I am not then it doesn't inspire confidence

I think this offers some value. Grant is agreat manager and Villa look in disarray between MON walking out and Milner.

It can also work the other way around though. A lot of the Villa players were glad to see MON leave, it may galvanise them. WH are just an average side irrespective of Grant.

Just got even better, collins and cuellar (who were a major factor in villa defensive performances last year) are both out for this and milner prob wont play so would imagine the team would line up something like

    Freiedel
    Young, Dunne, Davies, Warnock
    Young, Petrov, Sidwell/reo coker, Downing
    Carew, Agbonlahor

Doesnt look great at all for them, davies only played 180 mins in the league last year and think hes recovering from a knee injury at the min so I dont expect him to be near sharp enough. Young is also pretty weak defensively. Agbonlahor is also doubtful so if he doesnt play itll probably be carew and heskey/Delfouneso,leaving them a bit one dimensional up top.

Fully expect West ham to get something from this match and the West ham and draw priced at 4/5 looking pretty good

Over 2.5 goals in the Wigan -v- Blackpool game is 11/10.

Considering Wigan only know how to attack and Blackpool are new to the league I can't see anything other than a lot of goals in this game.

Might have a pop at over 4.5 goals at 13/2.

Anyone going to any of this weekend's games? I am going to Liverpool v Arsenal.

    Hi Bluetheshots

This isn't really a football discussion forum, it is for planning and placing of bets on Soccer

For general football discussion you need access to the Soccer forum
Have a read of the thread http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055637888 for the rules for entry and for the reasons why we have to be strict on Soccer chatter

One more bet for the weekend, have a tiny accumulator for all the PL matches

Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Sunderland and Wigan all to win, the other 5 matches to draw

25c bet could return a little under €1200

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 322 ✭✭noelpat

My big bet will be Chelsea -1 @ 4/7
I feel its a safe enough bet at home to West Brom

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,288 ✭✭✭fkiely

    Sunderland – Birmingham
Really fancy the home side here today. I think Birmingham will struggle a bit this season, second season syndrome and all that. I haven’t been impressed with their signings in the summer. Don’t rate Zigic at all and Foster is not as good as Hart. They struggled away from home last season only winning twice and Sunderland only lost three times in the Stadium of Light. Bent looks likely to be fit while Frazier Richardson has a big chance to impress with the departure of Jones.

    5 Pts Sunderland @ 11/10 (PP)
    Aston Villa – West Ham
Have to be taking the draw here today. The merits of this match have been discussed to death already so I don’t really have much more to add than what’s already been said but we always seem to draw at Villa Park. O’Neill is a loss but it’s tough to gauge how the squad will react but we’ve been impressive enough preseason and Grant looks like he knows what he’s doing. Tough game and I can see a stalemate.
    3 pts Draw @ 12/5 (365)

Man Utd are 9/5 with a Half Time Asian Handicap of -1

Very good bet IMO, it's hard to see them not leading at half-time, so realistically the worse-case scenario is I'll get my money back.

Id only do this bet if Hernandez starts.. Rooney still aint up too speed and Berba is hit and miss so you would need Valencia or Nani too pop up with a goal id say

Difficult one to call. Liverpool will be a different proposition this year. They are rarely overturned at Anfield so can't see this one being different. Don't know what to expect from Arsenal either.

Gonna steer away from the result.

Going for Skyrtel to be booked €5- @ 11/5. He doesn't cope well against pace and he's got a nasty streak in him

***Just noticed that there is already a Premiership thread for this weekend, Mods feel free to delete this and add it to that thread***

I think your right, unless (VERY slim chance) Agger plays LB, but as far as I know that was never tried during pre season.

Waiting for team news but I'am looking at these bets for the Liverpool game -

    HT/FT:
    Arsenal /Liverpool 25/1

    To be booked:
    Masch @ 11/10
    Carra @ 13/8

S Gerrard to score & S Gerrard to be booked @ 16/1 (if he starts in CM)

    Over 2.5's

I know I can't prove it, but I genuinely wanted to put money on 1-1 with 10 minutes to go, but I was in the pub so couldn't

Reckon Newcastle could cause an upset tonight and if Rooney doesn't fire on all cyclinders, Ncstl could play with the spirit Bpool did.

Draw @ 5-1 seems overpriced to me.I think it should be around the 7/2 mark

unfortunately im worried for utd tonight

we dont start the pl well, its more or less after christmas is when we really get going

I believe Newcastle will really frustrate utd with 11 men behind the ball and looks a very much unders match for me tbh

    I personally like the

Man Utd to win and 1 or 2 total goals in the match
    12/5

Still like to see the teams before i bet thou
