Buying from Apple US store

    Hi all,

I'm going to buy a Macbook Pro from the USA Apple store and get it delivered to an Uncle in New York who's coming home in a few weeks.

The problem seems to be with paying using an Irish credit card. They ask for the bloody Zip Code of the billing address. If I try put in Dublin 24 it rejects it.

I haven't proceeded fully with it yet as I'm waiting for his full address.

Anyone else had this before? What zipcode should I put in to allow it proceed?

    Thanks for any help.

I think US Apple Store will only ship within the US. That's why they have Apple.ie (not trying to be smart there - but why wouldn't everyone just buy from Apple US, don't forget state and federal sales tax! plus import duty into Ireland)

Try 90210. It's worked for me on other U.S. websites.

Or get your Uncle to pay for it and pay him when he comes over.

Yep I know. However, I'm buying from Apple USA and getting delivered to an address in New York.

It's paying with an Irish credit card that's the problem.

Will give 90210 a go. Getting uncle to pay is not an option. Thanks though

Zip codes are required by default for a lot of things but mean nothing really 90210 should work I've used 00000 also

Yeah, I think that's it. It knows you're from Ireland cos some of the numbers on the CC are designated for Ireland or it can see your Irish address associated with the CC.

From the 'Payment and Pricing' page

    "Credit cards accepted

The Apple Online Store U.S. accepts credit, debit, or check cards associated with a billing address within the 50 United States and the following U.S. territories"

So unless you have CC with a US address I dont think this can work....

ring your credit card company and add your uncles address as a secondary address to your card, itll work then

no,just explain to the card company why you are doing it,i did it with bank of ireland and it worked fine

Thanks for all the help lads.

The US Apple store (like most other stores over there) display their prices pre sales tax. I only realised this when I looked at the total on the payment page.

So it's actually working out cheaper if I buy it here through a business and claim the VAT back.

    Thanks again.
