    I have just bought a TV/DVD combi from the UK. Brought it back without checking it worked over there and now when i have tried it, cant get anything to work. Does anyone know is that because its a freeview TV? Tried it through my digital ariel too but cant even get a menu up?? Thought the dvd part would work but thats not either? Anyone any ideas??

    You should at least be able to get some sort of Menu's. A Freeview TV will only possibly stop you from getting pictures of the Irish DTT channels but they should still tune in and you should also still be able to get the Irish Analog stations too.

    I'm sure it's possibly only sets manufactured in the past 18 months are so would be compatible with the Irish MPEG4

    More likely not to have an MPEG4 tuner in it. Most likely to not ven have a analogue tuner in it. The DVD combo part normally gives it away.

    What make and model is it ?

    its a kids disney princess tv. 19" LCD. All im getting is a flashing screen that keeps changing colour??

    Sorry to the bearer of bad news but the TV tuner wont work here. Its a freeview tuner (MPEG2). We use MPEG4. You can connect a sat box/dtt box through the hdmi, but I would imagine thats not why you bought it.

    Did you buy it through a UK chain that are also over here? They may change it. Otherwise it'll be just a DVD player and screen.

    Is it changing the colour of the whole screen at the same time ? It sounds, if so, that it's stuck in some sort of test pattern diagnostic mode

    yeah it is. just going from blue, green, white, red etc. It wont load a dvd. is it something that can be easily sorted

    Sorry, I'm no engineer. It was just a hunch so I have no idea as to how to fix it. Getting a fixed pattern might get someone on here to know exactly what the problem is.
