Primary teaching - train in UK, work in Ireland?

I'm a solicitor looking for a change of career and am currently living in the UK. I am desperate to move back home to Ireland but it's just not possible at the moment. What I would really love to do is primary school teaching.

Does anyone know if it's possible to train as a teacher in the UK and then work in Ireland? If someone could point me in the right direction of transferable qualifications etc I would be very grateful.

Any other advice would also be great!

I can tell you it can be done, how and where I am not so sure, perhaps someone else here can give you some details.

My friend got a course for primary teaching in Carlisle and starts in September. When gets back he has to do some exam or course in Irish and then he can teach.

    Thank you for that :)

I already have my law degree so was hoping to get the qualification either through work based training in the UK or via a distance learning course, I'm not sure if that would make any difference.

The Irish exam is called the SCG, and though I have no personal knowledge of it, it is known to be difficult.
