    HAHA NO!

Whatever plates your car has it will have FOREVER!

Just use your parents address in Kilkenny, don't even mention your Carlow address.

It doesn't matter what VRT office you go to. The County on your new reg will be the county that you put on the VRT form.

I thought the VRO go by whatever address is associated with your PPS number?

Yes, it's Revenue's way of keeping tabs on the number of cars an individual imports in any given period.

Sly feckers! (But a good idea in fairness)

Pity the dont go the extra mile and employ somebody to go through donedeal.ie car ads for any frequent sellers (5+ a year) that sell privately only.

I imported a car in March and live in the Meath area but wanted a Dublin reg, so registered the VRT using my parents address who live in Dublin, therefore getting a D reg! Then when the log book for the car arrived at my parent’s house, I changed my address using the back of the log book and sent it off. About a week later, the new log book arrives at my home in Meath and the car obviously still has a D reg!

Common practice alright, are all of your tax affairs (PPS etc) still registered to your family home (Dublin address?). More importantly, what did you buy? :D

Yea I reckon so, I havent changed anything myself since moving so yea I would say the PPS address is still Dublin. Seat Leon FR, had to move to Diesel going to and fro Dublin everyday from Meath!

If they use your pps number to get details, then how come I've gone into the VRO and registered a car to someone else?

The draft made out to the local VRO for the VRT sum, must have the PPS# written on the back?

Yea, I paid the VRT. I didn't register the car to me though.

Yes I remember now, the VRT office in Santry had signs and all stuck up saying you must put your PPS number on the form
