right lads since the premiership and rugby is back on the box i think it might be good to have a thread where people can have their say where the best pub is to watch either of the above or any sport i suppose..

please don't turn this into an arguement of whats the better pub i just want people to be able to see where other then their usuall haunt is a good place to watch a match

Used watch all the champions league games in a place across the way from the delivery entrace of Dunnes in Henry street. Can't remember the name of it, always good crack though and they even threw out a few sandwiches and sausages a couple of times (the taste of which is increased ten-fold when after a few jars)

not really too gone on smiths as the past are pretty bad in there and can sometimes have a bit of a dodgy crowd in there if there is no security on

Great atmosphere, shame about everything else. Really like Flannerys Late Bar just up from Nancys for matches, there is no crap or stupid people, big screens and nice out door area at the front if the weather is good.

i usually go to rashers, the ardhu or that flannerys..theres only one piller that when your standing behind it you can't see the big screen but nearly every where else in the place you can see a tv

The Still House is a real "raw" soccer place,i went in there with the OH one Saturday to watch a match,we drank up and went to Phil Flannerys nice and busy but no boys in tracksuits or people that watched too much Greenstreet

Big Flannerys by the Icon was good for a Munster match

Symths is ok depends where ya get a seat the food is handy,i think they have security on there all weekend?

they have security on there every night and generally its grand but its just when there's a match on during the day and the staff get caught out that it can get a bit rough in there other then that its ok

?????????? why would a band be playing during the day on a saturday or sunday?????

ive been there for most matchs last season. its grand down by the back its mostly football fans watching the games on the big screen. the pints are grand because they are flowing during the games.

bands play at night in smiths and never on a saturday night

    its because nobody goes there:D
    its never packed for games.

for "big" games i used to go to nacys it is pretty busy. specially the champions league games and the heieken cup games.

flannerys(opp. icon) is pretty good for the rugby aswell.

very few places around now that i think of it

No you didn't offend me at all. Yeah I know it is somwhat small and alot of punters stand up and hang around the bar counter.

If there is a football match and a rugby match on at the same time, the Stillhouse will show both of them. May not be the ideal situation then.

I usually go to Nancy Blakes to watch the rugby matches. They have a bigger screen now in the middle bar so you can sit down in comfort watching it.
