Any way to make my ASG L96 (same as WELL L96,99% sure of that)more quiet?
like add cotton wool or anything? also, the bolt is rather stiff-how can i make it less stiff?

just lube bolt with some silicon

You could make more spacers for the barrel. It helps.

You have to remember when pulling back the bolt you compressing a spring so it is always going to be stiff. As said above try some silicone oil :)

There's not a great deal you can do. The sound you're hearing is coming from the piston slamming home after you've pulled the trigger. Unfortunately, they don't make a great deal of upgrade parts for the Well/ASG/Warrior/Whatevernameit'sbrandedastoday L96, so there's not much in the line of silent piston heads or better cylinders.

The stiffness, as was mentioned, is the compression of the spring. Short of removing said spring altogether, that's always going to be there. Some systems are easier to cock than others, but I've always found the clone L96's to be some of the stiffest (though not necessarily the worst).

Lubing the bolt will make it a small bit quieter on the cock, as there'll be less noise from mechanical friction, but there's little you can do about the overall noise produced.
If it truly bothered you, and you insist on using an L96 (the JG BAR10 and the TM VSR G-Spec are exponentially quieter, the latter being damn near silent), the most effective option would be to purchase a silencer adaptor from one of the online stores, and affix a Madbull silencer (must be Madbull, not a clone. Madbull silencers are the nearest thing airsoft has to actual sound suppressors, the rest are just tubes with foam).
Their "Quicksilver" would probably be the least ridiculous looking on the L96 barrel. I use this one myself, on an M4 and a P90 and find it quite effective. The "Gemtech HALO" would be the most effective (although it'll mean putting an M4/M16 style flash hider on that adaptor), with the "Gemtech G5" not being far behind. The HALO is bulkier and has a slightly awkward, though very sturdy mounting for aforementioned flash hiders. The G5 comes with it's own flash hider which allows the silencer to be quickly attached or removed with a single quarter-turn.

You can do things to quieten it, as I said. It's just a case of how much you want to spend. They're compatible with Maruzen APS upgrades, so there's a wealth of excellent PDI gear available, but you'll end up paying the cost of the gun again by the time you're done.

If you're serious about sniping, and you want that gun, that's your best bet.

Silent compared to what? They're quiet for an airsoft device I'm general, but loud for a bolt action system. Not the loudest, sure, but certainly not the quietest?
