Bleed Clutch Help!

    My clutch petal was a little soft so i tried to bleed it this morning. Anyway, I used the normal method and only got a little fluid to come out of the bleed screw to start with but it stopped and i'm not sure if air got back up the system but i can't seem to get the system to bleed anymore. Filled the reservoir to the max. Got someone to pump the petal and hold down but nothing comes out when i open the bleed screw. Anyone got any ideas to what is happening?

    I heard somewhere that you can open the bleed screw and the fluid will make it's way down the system overnight if you fill the reservoir.

    Got a car with no operating clutch at the moment.

    if it was an old car, id say you would need to pump the pedal....dont know squat about modern cars...

    my method for what its worth ...get someone to do four or five hard pumps on the pedal and then hold it down whilst you do up the bleed nipple....or get an easy-bleed thingy so you can do it all yourself...

    What make of car is it? ford cars can be hard to bleed

    Go to a motor factors and buy a pressure bleeder. I got one working off the spare tyre for 25 euros. It makes bleeding brakes/clutch a piece of p1ss and you have the satisfaction of knowing that the job is done properly (no air sucked in).

    It could be dodgy master cylinder seals.

    I got one of those gunson bleeder that uses the spare wheel and tried pumping fluid down from the reservoir. So with the bleed screw open and with the clutch petal up. I tried at 20psi and the pressure just filled the reservoir to it's max and burst off the cap. Nothing seemed to go down. So I tried at 10 psi and it presurised the reservoir but nothing went down the system again.:confused: Tried a couple of times but it didn't seem to work. Lots of **** did come up from the hydraulic lines and mixed with the fluid. The petal is so light now. Not much fluid in the system.

    Hate when people don't finish threads by posting the resolution, so just letting anyone interested know that my problem was a clutch master cylinder. 100euro for a new one. Very easy to fit.
