i got a wenger swissgear laptop backpack a few years ago and i was very happy with it. very well made and designed.

it is a bit bulky but can hold a lot more than just your laptop

You could get a laptop sleeve instead of a bag and carry that in your regular hand luggage bag. You don't have to remove your laptop from a sleeve going through security, but you do if you carry it in a bulkier laptop bag.

    Hi

Does anyone know if that is really true about carrying your laptop in with your bag now or you can't bring it seperately in a lap-top case? Because I have just been on the aer lingus website and it says this(see highlighted in red) ? If anyonewho has travelled wiith a laptop lately could tell me I'd be grateful as I am going away next week and want to carry my lap-top in it's case and my handbag also. Thanks :D

    Cabin/Carry-On Baggage Allowance

    • These limits are strictly enforced.
    • Additional small items (camera, personal stereo, overcoat, handbag or laptop) are allowed.
    • EU security rules regarding liquids, gels and aerosols in cabin baggage apply. Details of these rules can be found here: Prohibited Items.
    • Flights departing the USA are subject to TSA security rules. Details of these rules can be found by clicking here: tsa.gov.

I've been through a few of these over the years. The best ones I've ever used in terms of build quality/comfort/long life are Samsonite.

You can bring a laptop in your hand lugguge but when you are going through security you need to take it out of your hand luggage and have it scanned separately. If your carrying a laptop bag, you still need to take the laptop out of the bag and put it in a separate tray.

I normally carry my laptop in a sleeve going through security, then put it into my hand luggage once I've cleared. Only once have I had to take it out of the sleeve, and that was when I was going through Gatwick, where they made me power on the laptop to make sure it was real!
