You mean 'performed a controlled autorotation'. If there were no injuries then you can't call it a 'crash landing'.

So if i smash my car into a wall but walk out unscaved then its not a crash?

This thread is about the crash not bitching between users of if i crash yada yada yada and walk away. Lads get back on topic in regards to the crash, keep it civil, or simply do not post.

In the context of the helicopter incident the word crash is wrong, completely misleading. I haven't read anything about this incident other than this thread but considering it happened right at the airport and nobody was injured then the pilot most likely landed by autorotation (in the case of engine failure) as he was trained to do.
BTW, its impossible to smash your car into a wall and walk out unscaved. You could walk out unscathed though...

Really has been a bad week for aviation. Glad to hear there were no injuries.

Don't be disheartened, Boards.ie is not representative of the general aviation community. Most users on here are "Virtual" Pilots, obsessive spotters, 12 year olds with microsoft flight simulator etc.
If you want aviation discussion and reliable help and advice just go to Flying in Ireland. Just my opinion, and why I haven't read or posted anything much in this forum in a long time.

As tracker-man wisely points out don't let an aviation forum on a general discussion website colour your opinion of aviation.
Also don't let one flight school or one club make your mind up about aviation.
Just like in all walks of life and all professions aviation has it's good and it's bad.
