    Hi guys

Is there much of a difference between the 2? Im just a fairly bog standard texter sort of guy :D - also is it possible to strip out the "sent from 3 website" or whatever it says when using the three website texts

    Cheers

I'm not really sure about Eirtext, as I haven't used it in well over a year.
However I do know that the latest version of Jelly SMS removes the "sent from 3" thing'een.

Jelly is good but it leave ' at the end of each text that a person receives. What about eirtext pro - does that do the same?

What bugs me about both of these applications is that they break a long message into multiple messages. At this stage, even the online Vodafone page will combine a long message into a single message.

Didnt even think about that - spose as its sending via the providers site i think they also break them down do they? Annoying alright though. Does eirtext leave any ' at the end of a text?

Eirtext Pro allows you to send international texts where eirtext doesn't.

O2 are the ones that combine all your text into 1 the rest including
    vodafone split them

The reason that ' character is there is because there needs to be some character other than a space in order to remove the 'sent by webtext.three.ie' sig.

I wasn't aware Vodafone increased the message size. I will fix this in the next Jelly SMS update so that it's all in one message (same as O2).

Finally moved from Eirtext pro to JSMS full version, so far so good, keep up the good work.

Actually, now that I check the Vodafone web site, they actually just break those into 160 character texts and not one single one.

Hi Finbarr - could you replace the ' with a .

It might be less noticeable maybe?

Eirtext pro still have signature 'Sent by 3 webtext', but Vinny said he will remove it in next update but i doubt it will be fully removed as developer of JSMS said it need some king of string character, but IMO if ' replace dot . that will look much better.

I sure could! (or even better maybe I will add a preference so you can specify the character you want)

Just sent one there and the "Sent using webtext.three.ie" is at the end using Eirtext Pro.

That would be the business! or if that's too awkward i'd say most people would find the . better

Cheers and keep up the good work!

Just got an update for Eirtext Pro to remove threes signature, tested and working A ok. Very happy with this as it always annoyed me.

If only they could get rid of it from the website now...

It's in review at the moment, so whenever Apple press that big green button in the lab in California! I would guess less than a week.

Get Eirtext Pro, even if you don't use the international text messaging or background sending (which is an excellent feature). You should get it to support the developer for making a brilliant app that will save you hundreds of euro in text messaging fees. I don't pay for text messages anymore because I use eirtext pro all the time.

Have to say I've used JellySMS on my Mac.Really handy but what is off putting is the JellySMS advert on the end of some texts. I appreciate it's free software but, and I may be wrong, the advert is sometimes taking a free text with it.

Also, combining long texts is a must, Meteor have moved to allow 400 characters per text. Would be nice to send one free text instead of 3 :)

Ironclaw just go into JellySMS settings where you can turn off that advert completely.

Really? Which version number does it show in Help-About?

EirText doesn't attach a signature to its texts.
Could you not use it instead?

    4.3.6 Pro on MacOS 10.6.4

I know because I had signature turned off. I now can't turn it off without being hassled for a donation, i.e. It won't turn off. So I just left it blank.

It looks like there must a small bug in the preferences screen for the signature. When you disable the signature, you are prompted for a donation. That is intentional. However, the donation is completely optional and you should still be able to disable the signature without making a donation. But I just tested it now (on Linux) and the signature was left enabled after I disabled it and got the donation prompt. This is not deliberate - it is a bug... AND I just noticed that the donation message incorrectly states that donators have a special ability to disable the signature.

On my PC I disabled the signature a couple of times and it worked fine then... Try it yourself, and it should work for you. Don't worry about the donation prompt - the app has no idea if you have donated or not and runs exactly the same for folks that have donated and those that have don't, i.e. donations are 100% optional.

And just to make sure it worked OK, I just sent a message to myself with the signature disabled, and the signature was omitted as intended...
