Could you not get a small transparent drybag in one of the camping shops and put a normal radio in there?

I have used clear pvc covers for radios that are used on regular 2 way radios when it is raining consistently. I have never seen an outdoor radio fail because of getting wet in damp conditions but obviously they would not be submerged in water.

If you are looking for something that is 100% waterproof you might need to get a Marine Radio. You can get them from Procom in Oranmore. I would recommend an ICOM M33.

If you have no joy there get onto Paul AKA Pounder in In Car Technology.

The Mountain Rescue Team used to use sealed water proof pouches for their radios similar to the pic posted above. (Designed for radios)
They did a good job in keeping the radios dry but there will
always be a level of condensation etc.
(They were for use in heavy rain type conditions rather than submersible.)
I purchased a few pouches for them in a marine supplies shop
that was on Merchants Road in Galway city. Not sure if it's still there.

The IC M33 would set you back about €150 to €170 but you won't ever have problems with rain, that's for certain.

Duffys on Mainguard Street do some radio supplies; they may be able to order something for you.

Maplin would be another one worth trying.

There's a 2-way and phone specialist in Liosban called John Dawson; he used to be based in In Car Technology, but moved into an office in the tyre place next door when In Car moved to Ballybane. He supplies and repairs radios for a lot of the pubs and security companies.

LIDL ones are only good for rain, not submerging. You need IPX7 or 8 for that.
