    Hi,

I am going to be in Canterbury for 2 weeks comes the end of August. I will have a rental car and would really like to do some driving around to nearby towns like Brighton.

Has anyone spent much time in this part of the world? Can you recommend places to go, things to do/see, places to eat and hotels to stay in?

I know that I am asking a fair open quesiton but I am wide open to suggestions - looking for nice places or just something different or cool.

I have already planned a trip ot two to London and some shopping in the Bluewater shopping centre.

    Cheers

There's a cathedral in Canterbury that's worth a visit and Leeds castle as well. You could also pop over to Calais and and do some shopping in City Europe, or take a day trip toBrugge.

Failing that, if you are heading to Brighton you could also head a bit further and visit the Historic dockyard at Portsmouth or the Roman Villa at Fishbourne.

Have been in Canterbury a few times so I am familiar enough with the local area. I suspect that we could end up jumping on a ferry or the Eurostar alright.

For some reason, I have always wanted to go to Portsmouth so I will throw that suggestion into the pot :)

    Thanks!

There's a retail outlet place at gunwharf quay, so you can do history and consumer tourism in one day!
