The club was recently given membership cards for all the players. It has the players name, their club and the county and a membership number. What are these for? Can they be used for anything?

Got this from GAA website but nothing at all about what you can use cards for.
€2 Full Membership Fee and Membership Cards

In accordance with rule 2.2 of the official guide, each club must forward €2 for every registered full member to the Central Council of the GAA. Croke Park will issue county committees with an invoice for each club for the number of full members registered in early May. Clubs will then be asked to forward payment to the County Committee who will pass the full payment for the county onto Croke Park.

We will shortly be entering a tendering process for the production of membership cards and hope to be in a position to provide GAA membership cards to each full and youth member in the short to medium term.
Note: Full membership covers all those over 18 years of age. There is no Central Council fee for Youth Members

think I read somewhere that it was to get younger members to feel more a part of the GAA. The ladies football had these about six years ago, for one year, never happened again. Interesting thing to do alright

feel more part of d'socciaion, or a method of raising more cash!! every member (not just players) must according to head office be a member registered on the croke park computer system-as usual in these instances insurance is quoted as the reason. is only 2e at present but look forward to this increasing over the next few years! whats in it for the ordinary member.....not a thing but is another symptom of HQ tying up clubs in more red tape and getting them to pay for it!
