Rent Allowance going back to college

Hoping someone here can advice me on this.

Currently im receiving JSA and Rent Allowance.

I have applied to go back to college and do a masters and got accepted last week. I cant get BTEA as apparently this only is given to a Post grad in education or a HDip so I have to apply for the HEG Grant which is fine. My question however is will I still receive rent allowance. I have read mixed answers on this so just wondering if anyone on here can confirm either way.

Also due to getting a place on the course I am looking at moving out of my current accomodation and moving closer to the college. I would be looking to rent a place on my own rather than share as I want to focus on my studies. Currently I live with an owner/occupier. If I am still entitled to rent allowance as per above, is there a different amount given if you are living on your own?

Thanks for any info people can give!

You won’t qualify for Rent Supplement if you:

    * Are in full-time employment. However, if you are assessed as in need of housing under the Rental Accommodation Scheme and have been out of full-time employment for 12 months or more you may be entitled to the Supplement -see ‘Employment and Rent Supplement’ below
    * Have refused a second offer of local authority accommodation in an 12-month period. In this case, you will not be eligible to claim Rent Supplement for 12 months
    * Are leaving local authority housing without reasonable cause
    * Are attending full-time education. However, if you are getting a Back to Education Allowance or participating in the Back to Education Programme you may be entitled to the Supplement.

Might be worth making appointment to see the Facilitator at the SW office to check if there's any possibility your study would be covered under one of the Back to Education programmes.
