Figure X.X/Table X.X

Right, Writing my thesis at the moment. I have a lot of tables and maps in it. I am wondering should I name both the maps and tables Fig 1.xxxx or should I separate the two and call the tables "Table 1.xxx" and the maps "Figure 1.xxx". Anyone know?

Definatly seperate, you're indentifying two completely seperate objects.
