I repeated this year and it does seem like the end of the world at the start but it's not actually not that big of a deal. I went to a different school where they had a programme just for repeats. There was around 40 of us altogether and we had our own repeat classes for english, irish and maths. The only thing that was difficult about repeating was english. All other subjects stay the same but you'll have to do new poets, new main text and a new comparative in one year. I'm glad I repeated because I made new friends, I had extra time to really think through my course choices and now I hope to get the course I wanted, instead of taking something I didn't really want last year. Hope this helps :)

I just checked the list, you're lucky all those are on for next year except King Lear. I had to do all new ones this year. Boland, Kavanagh, Rich and Yeats are on again for poetry.

Wait until the results and offers before making any decision! Make up your mind which one you want and if you don't get the points for it, then repeating may be the best bet, but it would depend on why your exam performance was not great. Was it because you just don't handle the pressure or was it that you didn't do the work or ...., fill in the blank! Fix that problem and make sure that it doens't happen, its one thing making a mistake, its another thing to make the same mistake again!

Don;t make any decision till the results and go from there

there was alot of crying, writing reams of crap as a way of "learning" - waste of time - and time management ,for eg, i would spend 5 hours on history and nothing would go in  such a waste of time.

I know i didnt get UCC, cause i bombed in 3subjects i needed. I may have gotten a IT course but i would rather get my course in ucc rather then drop out of a course. And then wait for LC 2012

You never know until you get your results, you could be very surprised! keep the head up until you get them and don't give up hope just yet! If you want any more information about Arts don't hesitate to ask me because I am heading into my final year in !eptember.

Wait until your results OP. You'll have a clearer perspective then.

If you want to do the nursing there is a course in the college of comm you could do for a year and then you would be able to get into nursing in ucc (or another college), http://www.corkcollegeofcommerce.ie/courseday.cfm?d=7&c=69

its a choice if you dont get it

I bombed in my leaving cert in 2002 and gave it another go in 2003 to get a course I wanted in UCC. The leaving cert the second time round is far easier because you know what it's like and you will know what's expected of you. At the time I thought it was the end of the world when I had to repeat but looking back on it now it was a good decision and a little silly to be getting worked up over (with the benefit of hindsight). I was a little bit older starting college and I think repeating made me more focused when I eventually got there. If it's the only way to get what you want then go for it.....but like others have said wait until you get your results before you make any firm decisions...people always think the worst when it comes to exams so you might be worrying over nothing!

I don't know if you can do that - there's a CIT forum where you could ask though: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1133

Other than that, I'd just echo what others have said. Wait til the results and offers come out; you'll be able to form a clearer plan for what you want to do then. No point worrying yourself and getting worked up until that time arrives.

If you spend another year preparing for another Leaving Cert, there's no guarantee that you'll get into university either. Don't mean to sound harsh, but it's important for you to realise this too. I don't know the details of that course in the College of Comm. But I do know someone who did it, got into nursing in UL and is now a fully qualified nurse who worked here for a while and now works as the onsite nurse at a campsite near Malaga. There were a lot of people from my year who didn't get what they wanted and got in "by the back door" instead of repeating. There really is a "back door" course for nearly everything. Hopefully everything will be alright on results day though!
