Is it possible not to load carrier settings?

    I connected an unlocked iP 4for the first time with a Voda SIM and it seems to have got the uneditable carrier settings. I'm wondering is it possible to connect and keep the option of editing settings.

    REASON
    Sometimes on the road I would change around SIMS and would like to be able to enter the APN manually.

    When you switch sims, the carrier settings for the other operator won't apply, so you will be able to edit APN etc

    Ok I have 3gs running on 4.01 with Meteor.

    Can I not edit the settings like APN/MMS in the same way under 3.13 software? I cannot see the option.

    The meteor carrier bundle in cydia does not work for IOS 4.

    Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

    I didn't realise you were jailbroken.

    You'll probably have to restore to get rid of the Meteor carrier settings.

    Sorry bradygirl I think you may be mixed up. Me and the OP are different people :)

    No I just want to enter my meteor MMS/APN settings like I did on 3.13 but cant find the option

    The reason you don't have the option is because you loaded the carrier settings file. The only way to remove that file on a non-jailbroken iPhone is to restore. Might be an app to do it on jailbroken ones though I'm not sure.

    I have the same problem. Running 4.0.

    I am going to try SSH into the phone and delete the edited carrier settings.

    Yes, it worked.

    SSH onto the phone and go to /System/Library/Carrier Bundles/.. Filter these by date so the newly edited ones apear at the top. There were 2 folders at the top for me that says i edited them yesterday. 1 was called meteor.ie or something like that, the other one was a number, I dont recall what the number was. I deleted these 2 folders and rebooted the phone.

    Next i went to

    - Settings
    - General
    - Network
    - Click enable 3G
    - Cellular Data Network

    And i enterd the following details

    APN: data.mymeteor.ie
    username: my
    Password: meteor

    mms: mms.mymeteor.ie
    username: my
    password: meteor
    mmsc: mms.mymeteor.ie
    mms proxy: 010.085.085.085:8799
    mms max message size: 307200

    Then i rebooted the phone again and the 3g worked.

    Am I correct in saying before you did this you could not even find an area in settings - general to even try edit those details?

    Nice work igor. I wonder if different apn settings would help with all the three 3G issues..?
