Its as good as any Video camera without an optical zoom, which is not very if your subject is more than 2ft away.

LOL why do you lurk around the Apple forum so much if you hate it so?

Every post is a downer on Apple products from you.

Its a statement of fact, nothing more, nothing less, camera phones have a ridiculous field of view, rendering them useless once the subject is beyond a few feet away.....this affects all camera phones without an optical zoom, not just apple products.

I don't think anyone is going to go and buy an iPhone to video their wedding. As a camera, on a phone, its pretty good. Everyone knows the restrictions of such a phone so why did you insist on posting such information up as if its just a problem with the iPhone.

    Trolling if you ask me.

The quality is not bad., Is there any mobile phone with a built in stabilizer?

Yeah, but can you google yourself on any video camera?

That Youtube vid doesn't really do it justice I don't think, having been treated to Youtube's encoding or whatever.
Here's a vid I made last week when I got the phone. Don't mind the red on the left corner - that's my Incipio Superhero case!
I wanted to do something with a bit of movement to test it initially.

To be honest its great quality considering it is a phone. Pause it at any point and even a frozen frame is a pretty good still.

Bear in mind also that filming a load of HD video is gonna eat your gigabytes. This video is the raw footage and is nearly 46mb for 35 seconds!!

Its a mobile phone that happens to do HD video, nuff said.
Its not meant to replace a frikkin' 1080P Video camera.
In my experience, with good lighting, the results are excellent. It fits in your pocket and you can edit away on the train, bus, bog or whattevva ;).
Look, other phones offer the same now also, its not a revelation so much as an evolution of a product.
For capturing stuff on the fly that you can play back on your HD TV, it'll do the job nicely. Very nicely if you use Reel Director, iMovie or Vintage Video Maker.

For Steady cam stuff, try this DIY mod: http://www.handheldhollywood.com/latest-news/homemade-iphone-4-steadicam.html

Takes pretty good "in the moment" video's and turns on the flash for you to use for night video. They can be pretty good especially after a view drinks and i'd imagine would be a great improvement for taking video's of concerts etc. But if your looking for a good camera, look elsewhere, this is just a good camera phone.

I did a test video of the garden at home and it's the video I show people when they ask to see the quality and everyone is blown away by the clarity. Everyone says it looks like you could just touch the leaves etc..

This video was shot by me with my iPhone 4 last weekend, I know it's been compressed by youtube but still shows pretty good picture quality.

EDIT: It will also be here in a while, which might be in HD:

whats everyone's view on the best video editing software for iphone4?

i got iMovie and i'm not impressed - you cant trim the clips, there's a limited amount of theme's.

its seems very basic or am i missing something ?

Dissappointed with iMovie myself yeah. I pictured trimming of video's and music etc so you could change music depending on what image/video you were showing.

imovie IS basic, but you can trim the clips, from any lenght to...any length, people should watch the user demo first to learn how to use it, tapping and double tapping certain parts of the screen do different things, pinching etc... Its amazing how many people i've heard complaining about stuff you can't do, but actually can!
