    Hi

Aer lingus flies to Bilbao for certain months in the year.
Next year we get married in October which
happens to be one of the months they don't have a
direct flight. Does anyone know if you can
charter a flight. Much appreciate any help.

You can charter a flight, but it will be very expensive! Aer Arann do charters for up to 66 passengers. Call 01-8447665.

Norwegian.no who operate out of Dublin also charter their 737's for up to 148 passengers, details - http://www.norwegian.com/nl/klantenservice/contact-us/charter/

Thanks for the replies. I found out at Lunchtime that Ryaniar plan to open the Dublin-Bilbao route in October. :)

Is it a good idea to have most of the guests in one plane?
Nobody including I like to think of accidents happening. They still happen now and again.

Statistically this is a big if. If the plane had a belly landing, then many persons could be attending on crutches or hospitalised.

Plane travel is very safe. I fly in preference to trains, cars and ferries.

Ryanair are currently renegotiating their contract for Santander at the moment & using the possability of changing to Bilbao as leverage on Santander airport. They won't be flying to Bilbao next year; they fly to Santander until the end of October which is only an hour from Bilbao.

It's soooo much easier and cheapar and more convenient for your guests, if, when getting married abroad, you pick a place that's serviced by Ryanair, at least one other airline company and a charter flight.
This gives people the option to go for just a couple of days and sort out their own accomodation or to take a package holiday, suiting there own budgets and leave allowances.
I think any other option is selfish unless there's a very specific reason to get married in a certain area ie either the bride or groom is from there.

Chartering a flight presumably would mean you'd have to act as the travel agent which would bring huge amounts of hassle and stress onto an already hectic time.

In reply to Littleredspot, my future bride is from a coastal town in the Basque Country which is approx 30 minutes from Bilbao. The venue is only available in October so we're well aware that direct flights were going to be a problem.

In regards chartering a flight, I understand some of the posts been concerned about all the guests been on one plane. I've done some research and its quite expensive. On reflection, would be worried if my whole family travelled on the one flight.

Barritz, Vitoria and Santander are all within 2 hours from the town so its within a acceptable distance for guests.
