Door Supervisor Conduct ?

    Hi,

    I started doing part time door supervisor work to get me through college about 6 months back in one of the more upmarket clubs in town. There's a couple of nights out of the month where the place is full of donkeys that cause hassle. Since starting I've had too remove many people but most will leave when asked with no physical contact needed. However, I have removed one or two by force and had a guy in a headlock tonight to restrain him.

    Another incident that pops to mind is being kicked in the groin by a girl while myself and a colleague held her boyfried by the wrists. After this she threw a drink in my face. What are you do in a situation like this. I would've loved to have her charged for assault but just walked away because I didn't know my rights.

    Is there anyone in the know of some rules, regulations and laws about reasonable force, how to act if attacked etc.

    I don't want to find myself on the receiving end of a lawsuit.

    P.S. I did complete some smelly fetac course that cost me in the region of €200 for 5 hours that was supposed to train me for this work but it was utterly useless!

    P.P.S. I'm not a big agro head. Resolve most things by talking and give people many warnings before their asked to leave but sometimes the proverbial **** hits the fan when you try and be reasonable with an un reasonable person.

    No courses will EVER replace experience, and ya can only get that wit time.

    technically yes, she has assaulted ya, if you were to press charges would you really wanna stand in front of a judge and say this girl hit you??

    There's more than one way to skin a cat, bin her, bar her for 12 months, simples.

    I always worked on the principle of an invisible shield, my arms length. If anybody came within that space then they wouldn't be for long.

    A Pre-Emptive strike is a VERY difficult thing to prove in court.

    Your right about the girl. Wouldn't actually be arsed following it up but it was very frustrating at the time to know this creature of a woman can kick me and I can't do a thing about it.
