I presume its the band that plays your first dance, as your dj wouldnt be arriving until later..
so..what if the band dont know the song you want?
Do you bring a cd to the hotel before the wedding?
Who will play it then?? Someone from the hotel, or someone from the band??

    Confused...

I think the band will usually play it on a cd or something if they can't play it themselves. I may be wrong though! Best check it with the band first.

Our band asked us to ring them a month before the wedding to let them know what the first dance song is so that if they dont know it, they can learn it for the wedding!

As a dj, I always arrive and have my pa setup and ready to go before the band start and have played the first dance a number of times due to issues with their equipment.

Any decent band will be able to learn your song. Just let them know in advance.

just a thought to consider - it is worth hearing the band singing it before you decide one way or the other & to make sure that they can sing it in the style you want - sometimes they can adapt the song to suit their own set up & it can make or break it.
