Tried a few banks and none of them have it. Tried the currency exchange in College Green and they dont stock it either nor will they order it

Going to ring ICE currency exchange in Dublin Airport tomorrow to see if they stock it. Is there anywhere else ?

i think you can only buy egyptian currency in eygpt.. until you make it to an atm/exchange over there i'm sure most people/places will accept euro/sterling/dollars (US). if you are worried about carrying cash you could try and get travellers cheques although i don't know how useful they'd really be...
if you don't have a credit card then perhaps look into getting a prepaid american express, some other credit card companies probably do them too, i think you can get one through trailfinders....

i was in the middle east recently and the only machines that my actual ATM card would work in was those of big banks: HSBC, Barclays etc...if you can't find these try going to a big hotel, they usualy have them there...

+1 apparently it is illeagal to carry egyptian currency outside of Egypt so it won't be available here- this is what I was told in Cairo in a reputable hotel but I do stand to be corrected!

You're better off getting it in Egypt, you'll get a better rate of exchange over there. I got some here about 7 years ago in the old Thomas Cook bureau de change on Grafton street. Only when we got to Egypt did we realise that we'd have been better hanging on until we got there.

You can get them at the airport,I've done so a few times at the old bank of Ireland currency place although this is now replaced with the Ice foreign exchange unit.
Saying you cannot get them out side of Egypt is ERRANT nonsense.

With less popular currencies at banks outside of the airport you always have to order them.
If you want any quantity of any currency, you are better off ordering at least a week in advance of needing it.

You used to be able to get them in the banks. I got mine in PTSB in 08 but soon enough after that the supplier stopped selling them for whatever reason. Like everyone else says, the airport place seems to be the only place you can get them now.

    Bring Euro or Dollars.

If you are going to exchange them in Ireland just get enough to get you from the airport to your hotel. In other words a maximum of 100USD/Euro worth.

Over there withdraw money from a local bank's atm (usually outside the airport)from your credit card in credit. Cheapest way. Whatever you do never change money in a travelex place or in BOI Dublin airport etc.
