I got some work done last month, rear molar on the right needed to be filled, it was a deep one, close to the nerve, but didn't need root canal. Another small one beside that filling, and another medium one directly below on the bottom right.

The bottom one was done over 2 appointments as the anesthetic didn't work, i took 6 injections to get it numb. When i came back the next week he said it was a bad batch of anesthetic(worrying).

Anyways, i got the work done and in the last week i've started getting dull throbbing pains on the top and bottom medium and deep fillings. Its bearable, but its also not by any means nice. it might also be a contributing factor in my lack of sleep lately.

The top molar that had the deep filling is sensitive, not to hot and cold, but pressure. Its very tender to bite on, it has gotten better since i had the work done, however it feels like the pain is leveling out now. I cant eat on the right side of my mouth now. The dentist said it could take anything up to 6 weeks to get better, but i feel i have reached a plateau.

Any insight to this sort of pain would be great. I've had fillings done before, but they never hurt me the next day let alone nearly 5 weeks after.

sounds like the nerve has died. go back and get it checked. 6 weeks is a long time for something to settle down.
as for the anaesthetic, i've had patients that one week needed 3 or 4 cartridges of anaesthetic to successfully numb the tooth, while a week later it only took one cartridge. this was just for routine work so there was no interference from an infection. the last time it happened, it failed on 3 patients in a row, no matter how long i left it to work. all i could do was ask them to come back again but it all worked out dandy.

This is relating to whenever i would chew on something on my top molar? Not the bottom one? This isnt relating to the dull throbbing pain im getting is it?
