    Looking for some advice.

Revieved a summons in the post for not paying a speeding fine.I never revieved notice for the offence and I explained this to the judge but was hit with double points and €160 fine.

Pretty pissed off and thinking of appealing.
How do I go about appealing or am I just wasting my time

You're not wasting your time. Its a matter of whether a different judge will take a different view.

If you appeal you need to lodge a notice of appeal within 14 days of the conviction to the district court office. You also need to serve that on the garda involved. Call in to the District Court office, they will have the paperwork and it pretty much says what to do on the forms.

You will some months hence be given a date for your appeal.

    Appeal it.

Unless they sent notice of the fine by registered post (which they don't), they cannot prove that you ignored it. Explain on appeal that you are more than happy to pay the 80e fine and take two points. Dress well and speak politely and you should have no problem.
