    Hey,

I'm looking to get involved in a bit of rock-climbing. Does anyone know of any clubs in around Dublin city centre or south side?

    cheers,

    K

    Hey,

I was also looking to start into this.
    http://irishmountaineeringclub.org/
They have links to courses. They have beginners courses every April, but not sure if they have other dates set for beginners.

UCD have beginners courses. A work colleague was telling me about it, but i dont know the link. All I know is they are being booked up very fast.

IMC or UCD all the way :D
If you like the experience, purchase Libby Peter's book 'Rock climbing - essential skills & techniques'.
It covers everything, from basic knots to multipitch climbing.. there are many books out there but Peter's is by far the best.
When you get started and you have questions, you can use the following resources:
Climbing.ie (just search your topic) - or place a post.
Challenge Hikers Climbing group on Facebook (lots of beginners info there).
Needle Sports (they have some good info)
IMC web site (lots of info there and people who are willing to give their time)
Or any of the guys who know their stuff in Great Outdoors/Basecamp Ireland/Snow & Rock/ or my favorite = Angus in Costwold in Belfast.
    Good luck :pac:

Great disused quarry in Dalkey, Popular with the climbers. They run courses our there too. Basic rock climbing course is run over two days and costs roughly €150-180. not sure what numbers to ring but can find out as a friend did the course just last week.
    Some great vids on youtube

Thought I'd bump this thread for my own nefarious purposes. I'm doing an organised rock climbing weekend in September, but I'd love to fit in some practice in the meantime. I'm only free in the evening time though - does anyone know of any post-office hours sessions in south Dublin? Or a wall I could use for an evening or two (without having to buy a six-month gym membership) ?

    Thanks in advance!
