Just curious, what is the longest straightest stretch of track in the country?

I saw this picture on the Navin to Drogheda line and wondering dose it qualify as one of the longest straight sections of track in the country?.

I travelled the Nullabor plane Australia in 1993, 300 miles without a bend. :p

The stretch of line from Wicklow Junction (site of) to south of Greystones is another contender although I feel sure that it is actually on the Dublin/Cork line.

I think the Wicklow section is the most level in Ireland JD. I think you're right about the straightest being on the Dublin-Cork line. Can't remember where for the life of me though!

Limerick to Lim Junction has some fairly long straight sections.

I would guess that this section is also one of the flattest.

Does this help? "We where promised a 100mph railway to Cork, less than 35 miles are currently cleared for 100mph despite the route being the straightest in the country "
