I'm trying to get the screws out of my front brake discs but they won't budge.

I need to get them out as I'm upgrading the discs in the near future.

    Any ideas?

An Impact driver is your friend.
Just remember to take the slack up by turning anti clockwise until the whole assembly tightens then give it a stout whack with a heavy hammer.

Thanks for the replies. Could you point me in the right direction of what kind of impact driver I should get?

I take it it's the 2 hex-head screws holding on the calipers you're talking about.
Usually these are M10 bolts & you need to use a 17mm ring spanner.
Loads of welly anti-clockwise, or indeed, the hammer !!!!.

Nope, I got the bolts for the calliper off using a ratchet. I'm taking about the phillips head screws that hold the brake disc onto the hub.

A manual impact driver should cost less than €20 in any tool shop.
They usually come with a selection of bits + and -.
If you haven't got a good lump hammer get one at the same time.
Impact drivers are very useful pieces of kit.

Lovely stuff. I got a new rubber malet the other day, will that be good enough or do I need the weight of a lump hammer to make the driver work properly?

A proper hammer is needed to work effectively.
You will likely only need one good blow and it will come loose.
