    was out checking it today and grain is full it is still soft and milky inside

    we cut barley undersown early last week it was in the milky stage about a fortnight ago teagasc sent a text telling people to cut arable silage sooner rather than later so around now would be a good time to cut it we had to because a few patches were ripening

    will let you know when i feed it :D maize here was brutal last year so decided to try some thing else

    Have you peas in it, and what cereal is it? Sounds like it is ripe for silage ok.

    If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

    or better still if you are testing it :cool:, Maize doing well down here and plastic crops still way ahead of open. Did every one cut back on it up your way?

    some people said this was the last year, but its about half of what was put in last year... worked out too dear last year :rolleyes:

    cut the triticale and lupins yesterday , bulked up very well , will see what its like when tested in a few weeks - the lupins where like beans before they where cut

    they flowered about 6 weeks ago and before they where cut the flower had turned in to a pod like beans iykwim , yup there where plenty of purple flowers there alright
