Decent enough cars for the money . You would need to check the clutch as the pedal box is a common fault and its a bit*h of a job to do.

Guy i used to work with owned one years ago. The 1 litre ibiza is a seriously slow & underpowered car. I remember he told me there were certain hills in cork that he had to avoid because his ibiza would struggle badly trying to get up them. Especially if he had passengers!

Mean't to be fairly reliable though. Fine as a first car i suppose.

Had a MK3 Ibiza 1Litre same as Link great car very economical, make sure timing belt and water pump is done @60k should already been done with age of the car tbh will go up hills no problem aslong as you dont have heavy mates :D

Yep, same as the polo of that era.

Had a 99 ibiza for a couple of years, that 1.0 is seriously slow alright and is'nt that economical because of the need to thrash it, about 40mpg is what i used to average. It never caused any trouble though, i would call it a "good" car as long as you can live with the need to take your time...

I'd go with a similar year Ford Fiesta over the Ibiza to be honest. 1.25 litre engine is a little gem, run out Fiesta Ghia models had bigger car creature comforts of the time such as air conditioning, alloy wheels and cd player.

thanks for your help. i need to keep the tax and insurance down so will probably have to go with a slow car. i was also wondering in general how much of a discount off the advertised price can I expect from the dealer?

It depends on how keenly the car is priced in the first place.

Cant see more than a few quid being knocked off the linked model.
