basically i have a 1tb screenplay plus (iomega) has been working fine, up untill a few days ago now when i try to put a film on it it just freezes(i can take films off no problem ) i thought corrupted file so tried to format it but windows just freezes up, tried to update firmware (officially from tthe iomega website) but just installs halfway then freezes, have tried all of this in safe mode aswell still no good when i try format hd to ntfs it says windows is unable to format this drive, it will format to fat 32 but still cant put anything on it anyone have any ideas?

At present what format is the drive in? Fat32? Fat16? or other?
Are you using a third party tool to do the format or are you using the standard windows utility?

make sure its version 3.o9 ,obviously if you use this to format drive, you,ll lose all the data on it.
or you could install linux mint on the pc, and try and use that to format the drive. You can install linux while leaving your windows os ,intact ,as it is now.

Fat32 has a 4GB file size limit, so if your film is 4 GB or more it won't copy. If you having problems formatting to NTFS try converting fat32 to NTFS.

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Convert-a-hard-disk-or-partition-to-NTFS-format

The link is for Windows 7 but it's the same for Vista and XP.
